Welcome to My New Website
Welcome to my new website and first ever blog post!!!
I wanted to write a really quick update for those who don’t follow me on Facebook and may not be up to date with my latest exciting news.
In September, two months after getting back from my mid semester break in Europe I was fortunate to win the prestigious 2013 AIPP STUDENT PHOTOGRAPHER OF THE YEAR AWARD. I was presented with my award at the APPA’s gala dinner at the Regent Theatre ballroom in Melbourne. It was hands down one of the best nights of my life!
As if winning that wasn’t well and truly beyond my wildest dreams, this week I found out I also won the 2013 ACMP STUDENT PHOTOGRAPHER OF THE YEAR overall winner and winner of the portrait category!!
Just, wow.
To be recognised by some of this industries top professionals; artists & photographers whom I look up to, is such a blessing. I am so, so grateful.
Of course winning awards is awesome but what is even more awesome is hearing from all of YOU, the incredible people who are constant supporters of myself and my work. To know that you are responding to my work, that you are getting something from it in some small way is the biggest reward of them all. So thank you.
I have had such an incredible few months. Things are going really well for me both creatively and professionally right now. I couldn’t have expected my final weeks of my fourth and final year of my photography course to go any better than they have. I feel like I am on a roll, like everything is falling into place and all my hard work is finally paying off. I can’t wait to see what the future has in store for me!
Thank you everyone for joining me on this crazy wild adventure so far. I look forward to sharing more of my creative journey with you.
Cheers 2013…look out 2014!!!!
“I hope that in this year to come, you make mistakes.
Because if you are making mistakes, then you are making new things, trying new things, learning, living, pushing yourself, changing yourself, changing your world. You’re doing things you’ve never done before, and more importantly, you’re Doing Something.
So that’s my wish for you, and all of us, and my wish for myself. Make New Mistakes. Make glorious, amazing mistakes. Make mistakes nobody’s ever made before. Don’t freeze, don’t stop, don’t worry that it isn’t good enough, or it isn’t perfect, whatever it is: art, or love, or work or family or life.
Whatever it is you’re scared of doing, Do it.
Make your mistakes, next year and forever.” ― Neil Gaiman
Love you with all my heART.
